A day in my life.

Share

Right now I'm trying to produce my first album. It's hard for an independent artist these days. Especially when you have to work so hard a dead end job for what feels like 90% of the week. Don't get me wrong I'm glad I have my job, I'm able to support us and they treat me well.

That's me... That's the dress code at work. No I'm not a bank robber, I promote a renovation company in Brooklyn.

That's how I promote. For the last few years I always seem to get outdoor jobs in the winter time and summer jobs in a hot sweaty kitchen with no AC. I think they call that Murphie's law or something. Either way that's my luck. Needless to say, the winters are harsh here, hence my face being covered. It gets so cold that the air burns my nose when I breathe in. Lately we've been having freezing temperatures and 36 mph wind.

The company specializes in Brownstone buildings like the one in the picture. I have to mark off every house I did on a map, and cover an entire neighborhood everyday. I worked out that I run up and down about 40,000 stairs everyday.

I'm so exhausted and tired after doing this sometimes for weeks with no day off. My joints get so swollen I can barley walk sometimes. I have to work extra hard nowadays because the company is struggling during this recession. I'm partly responsible for keeping this company alive. In a way it feels good to know that I'm responsible for feeding peoples families. Last thing I want is the company to go out of business. At the same time it's incredibly draining to have to go through the cold winter everyday like this and barley get any sleep because of all the things I need to squeeze into my schedule after work.

I just hope and pray things get easier for us. But I'm also happy to be off the streets. Honestly, one of my greatest pleasures in life is just to get home from work, eat and open a beer.
